Q-25 Sport Pylon Racing Rules

 

Aircraft: must be a single engine, single wing type with an integral landing gear.

 

  1. With the exception of the engine, Aircraft must be legal in AMA class 424: Viper 500, Dominator 500, Predator I or II, Sonic 500, Scat Cat 500, etc.
  2. All aircraft must be able to taxi & rise off ground. (i.e. engine must idle)
  3. All aircraft must have at least (2) main wheels and a tail wheel or skid.  
  4. Aircraft can be ARF, kit, or plan built meeting AMA Quickie 500 racer dimensions and must be stock "Out Of The Box" (NO COMPOSITE Wings, Tail Feathers, or Airframes Allowed) or built to plans. NO Airframe Modifications ALLOWED.
  5. Minimum empty weight (no fuel) of 52 oz. (3-1/4 lbs.)
  6. ARF fuel tank may be replaced with a standard molded tank (Dubro, Hayes, Sullivan, etc.) or a “Bubble Less” tank.  
  7. No pressure bladder fuel tanks allowed

 

Engine: OS .25 FX ONLY!

  1. Engine must use the stock carburetor supplied with the engine.
  2. Engines must be capable of sustained idle.
  3. No engine modifications allowed except to remove the baffle from the muffler.
  4. Only stock mufflers supplied by the manufacturer are allowed.
  5. Engines of all winners (1st through 5th place) will be torn down and inspected for compliance. ANY MODIFICATIONS WILL RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION FOR THE ENTIRE MEET WITH NO REFUND!

 

Fuel: Will be supplied by race sponsors. It will consist of 15% nitro / 20% oil. All contestants must use race supplied fuel.

 

Prop: pitch and diameter are unrestricted. No prop modifications except to sand / debur the sharp edges and balance (one side only).

 

SAFETY:

  1. Each clevis on a pushrod must have a safety (i.e. fuel tubing) to prevent accidental opening.
  2. If a clevis is used on each end of a push rod, only 1 may be adjustable (i.e. 1 clevis must be soldered).
  3. All servo’s on control surfaces must have 4 mounting screws.
  4. All planes must use 4 functions (Throttle, Aileron, Elevator and Rudder).
  5. All engines must be able to be shut off from the transmitter.
  6. Unsafe and / or erratic flying (i.e. flying across the dead line or over / into the pit area) may be cause for immediate disqualification.

 

Course: We will use a 400 ft. 2 Pylon course.

 

All Persons, including Pilots, Helpers, Callers, and Race Officials, must wear an approved safety helmet (hard hat) at all times when beyond the spectator safety line or with in 275 ft. of the Pylon line.

 

Race management, heats and mains and points allocation will be the same as outlined in the Club 40 procedures document.

 

ALL decisions of the Contest Director are FINAL!
