HOTMAC Meeting Minutes July 2, ‘07

There were 12 members present.

The meeting started at 7:05PM.

The June meeting minutes, and financial report, to include the Rally of Giants, was read and approved. The July Board Meeting minutes were read.

IMAA Rally caps were given to all members who attended.

Despite the weather, the IMAA Rally was deemed a huge success and all were thanked played a part in it’s’ success. The club thanks the Waco Tribune Herald and Channel 10 news for the outstanding reporting of the events.

Larry reported the correspondence he received from Jim Rice, AMA District VIII Pres regarding Ron Harding’s complaints. The letter put closure to Jim Rice’s e-mail to Larry that was posted at the field. The Board agreed that everyone needs to stay in compliance with the AMA safety code with regard to the use of alcohol at the field. General rule #9 states:"I will not operate my model control aircraft while under the influence of alcohol or within 8 hours of having consumed alcohol". Everyone needs to be aware of the fact that an alcohol related incident or accident could put the involved pilot and club in a serious liability position.

The club voted to support the following events in ’08...

Sertoma Kite Fest: 3 May ‘08

IMAA Mini Rally: 20-21 June ‘08

Warbird: 18-19 July ‘08

Jet Rally: 4-5-6 Sep ‘08

The club voted not to have an IMAC event in ’08.

The club voted to use striping paint to mark a no parking area directly opposite the walkway at the flagpole and to mark a "no pit area" at the east end of the sidewalk under the new shelter so as to allow room for pilots to access the flight line with their equipment.

The club voted to post a sign reading: FOR SAFETY, ALL PILOTS MUST FLY FROM BEHIND FLIGHT STATION BARRIERS

Alan Hardage volunteered to look in to the cost of building a deck on the east side of the concession stand so as to make the area accessible during wet weather.

A discussion was held regarding buying more picnic tables. C.C. reminded all that the previous tables were nice, but provided an obstacle when mowing. It was suggested we store 2-3 of the 8’ fiberglass tables in the concession stand to be used for picnics. The issue was tabled.

Larry reported we may be asked to give a small distribution back to IMAA per our agreement for the Rally of Giants. It was agreed we will wait until they ask for the distribution.

Members were reminded that, per our lease, members are responsible for field security. If there is a non-member flying and you are the last to leave you must ask that person to park on the outside of the front gate and lock the gate.

The meeting adjourned at 8:15pm.
